About Me

Hi! I’m Jared.

Over the past 8 years, I’ve had the pleasure to work as a technical communicator and content writer in Atlanta’s fast-growing software industry. I’m passionate about creating helpful and informative content that enhances a user’s understanding of their technology and software. I am also obsessed with sharing intriguing stories (both mine and others’).

Thanks so much for checking out my site. While you’re here, feel free to take a look at my blog and writing samples.

Me & Writing

I graduated from Virginia Tech in 2010 with a BA degree in English. After a few months of post-graduation “soul-searching”, I eventually got a job as a Technical Writer. I’ve been honing my technical communication skills for 8 years now and have enjoyed working in the public transit, membership management, and SaaS accounting industries.

In that time, I’ve written more pages of technical documentation (e.g. user guides, release notes) than I can even begin to count. I’ve also done some marketing work, which involved creating product brochures, cut sheets, blog posts, and white papers. I’m always looking for a new puzzle to solve, so please feel free to contact me via LinkedIn.

Things I Do

I like to spend my time outside of work focusing on creative hobbies to help broaden my horizons.

Improv

I started taking improv classes in 2017 and have performed in shows at both Whole World and Highwire comedy theaters. It has been one of the most fulfilling creative endeavors I’ve ever attempted. Through improv, I’ve learned the value of having a “yes, and” mentality in everyday life. It’s also helped me with thinking on my feet and collaborating with others.

Photography

My wife bought me a fancy DSLR camera for our first anniversary, so since then I’ve spent a great deal a time learning how to use it. Thanks to a couple classes and thousands of practice shots, I’ve managed to capture a handful of pictures that I feel are of reasonably good quality. You can see some of my photography on this site and on my Instagram.

Travel

My wife and I love to travel and try to go on at least one international trip every year. Thus far, we’ve made it to India, Paris, Barcelona, and even Oman. I’m currently working on a series of travel stories about the unexpected twists and turns I’ve experienced during our adventures in my blog.

Dahlia & Juniper

I’m not sure if this really counts as a hobby, but my wife and I own two black lab mixes who fill our days with much-appreciated companionship and goofiness.
